About this piece
A work for cello and fixed audio (2010) commissioned by cellist Caroline Stinson and premiered at New Works Calgary. Carrabré writes that after earlier pieces made with musicians from other cultures (Inuit Games, Creation Stories) his harmonic language slowed down and he came to enjoy dissonances over long drones; here the cello's Western virtuosity is set against a sustained drone that the notes lean into. The composer's site has a score excerpt and a complete recording; scores are sold through the Canadian Music Centre.
