About this piece

Tombeau pour Ton de Leeuw is Daan Manneke's short memorial piece for his former composition teacher, Ton de Leeuw, first written in 2012 for cello and piano as part of the Album project for amateur cello–piano duos. Donemus publishes it in several versions: in the Album for cello and piano, on its own (with an optional part for piano four hands), and for cello and guitar. The linked video is the premiere of the cello and guitar version, by the Edenwood Duo (Wouter Vercruysse, cello, and Catherine Struys, guitar) in Bredevoort on 8 January 2023. A second linked video, now shown first, is a live performance of the cello and piano version by Doris Hochscheid and Frans van Ruth, who commissioned the Album pieces.
