About this piece
Walker's cello concerto, commissioned by the New York Philharmonic for its principal cellist Lorne Munroe, to whom it is dedicated. Walker revised it in 2012 and renamed it Movements for Cello and Orchestra; the three movements are Risoluto, Doloroso and Fuocoso, and the work lasts about 20 minutes. The revised version was premiered on October 6, 2012, in Urbana, Illinois, by cellist Dmitry Kouzov with Sinfonia da Camera under Ian Hobson, who also recorded it for Albany Records.
