About this piece
An unaccompanied sonata of about 12 minutes, written for cellist Christophor Miroshnikov. Its sections (Prelude and Allegro moderato, Alla breve, Moderato, Interlude, Vivo, and a finale marked Allegro ma non troppo, con fuoco) are played without a break. All of them grow from material in the opening movement. The composer's note on the publisher page mentions a pizzicato passage, closing harmonics and sustained double-stop pedal notes, and names 9 February 2004 at the Athens Concert Hall as the premiere date.
