About this piece
A set of variations for unaccompanied cello on a theme from Job, the ballet by Ralph Vaughan Williams, who had taught Maconchy at the Royal College of Music. Maconchy wrote it in 1957. The St Hilda's College handlist of her papers records an ink manuscript and a published score of the work. Lengnick publishes it, and cellist Antony Cooke recorded it on the 1997 album The Power of the Cello (Resort Classic).
