About this piece
An unaccompanied cello piece of about ten minutes from Ali-Zadeh's 'Silk Road' cycle. The Tallinn festival commissioned it for Ivan Monighetti's 50th birthday, and it is dedicated to him. Monighetti gave the premiere in Tallinn on 26 November 1998, and Alexander Ivashkin gave the British premiere at the Royal Festival Hall in March 2003. The composer later made versions for solo flute and for flute with prepared piano.
