About this piece
Oceano is a seven-minute piece for unaccompanied cello that Prestini dates to 2003, from her student years at Juilliard. It is paired with Pablo Neruda's poem "Océano," which Prestini reads as a spoken prelude to the piece on Houses of Zodiac: Poems for Cello (2021), an album of her solo cello works recorded by cellist Jeffrey Zeigler.
