About this piece
A concert piece of about 13 minutes for cello and chamber orchestra, first conceived in 1928 and revised in 1974, the last year of Eckhardt-Gramatté's life. Its scoring is unusual: pairs of bassoons, horns and trumpets with a string section that leaves out the cellos, so the soloist is the only cello voice. Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi recorded it with the National Arts Centre Orchestra under Mario Bernardi in Ottawa in 1981.
