A 17-minute suite for unaccompanied cello in seven movements, each taking a passage of the Requiem Mass as its starting point (Requiem aeternam, Kyrie, Tuba mirum, Sanctus, Dies irae, Agnus Dei, Quid sum miser). In her programme note the composer explains that the whole suite grows from two ideas: a melodic theme heard at the opening and a set of chords that only appear in their plain form in the closing pizzicato passage. Written for cellist Thomas Carroll, who recorded it in 2022 (Orchid Classics).
