About this piece
A suite of seven short pieces for cello class or cello ensemble (at least six cellos), commissioned by the Farnham Festival for Kathleen Anderson's cello ensemble in 1971. Because that group ran from five-year-olds on open strings to Grade 8 teenagers, the composer wrote parts for every standard, with some movements for the whole ensemble and others for smaller groups within it. The movements are Fanfare, Whispering Song, Czechoslovak Love Song, Drone Song for a Computer, Canon a 4, 'The world turns on its dark side' and Traffic; teachers can play a selection or the whole suite.
