About this piece
The summer suite in Nakamura's cycle of six unaccompanied cello suites, composed in 2011 and dedicated to Wolfgang Boettcher, who premiered it in Witten on 25 March 2012. Its six movements turn to the summer night sky (the stars, the Milky Way, Spica and Antares) and a moth around a lamp; three of them carry haiku by Matsuo Bashō from 'The Narrow Road to the Deep North' as mottos, printed in German translation in the edition. At about 30 minutes in Boettcher's recording, it is the longest suite in the set.
