About this piece
The autumn suite in Nakamura's cycle of six unaccompanied cello suites, dedicated to Wolfgang Boettcher, who also edited the published part. Its six movements include a sunrise prelude, a playful portrait of a wagtail drawn from a poem by Tatsuji Miyoshi (with a col legno passage), maple leaves drifting down a river and mountains in full autumn colour. Boettcher premiered it in Witten in March 2010 and gave the first complete performance there on 21 March 2016; his recording lasts about 23 minutes.
