About this piece
The composer's own solo-cello arrangements of two movements from her Colores Andaluces for cello and piano: Duende, arranged in 2020, and Zapateado, from 2022. Both were made for Catalan cellist Roger Morelló Ros. He premiered Duende in Reus on 16 October 2020 and Zapateado in Berlin on 1 May 2022, and recorded both with the Babylon Orchestra's label. Duende is a dark, searching piece named after Federico García Lorca's idea of duende, the mysterious inspiration of the greatest performers, and pays homage to the late cellist Françoise Groben. Zapateado is a percussive flamenco dance.
