About this piece
A single-movement piece for cello and piano, written for and dedicated to the duo of cellist Roger Morelló Ros and pianist Anna Khomichko. Fábregas took her starting point from the 16th-century Spanish poem "Sierra áspera" by Pedro Padilla, a text Robert Schumann also used. She links it to Clara Schumann's uphill struggle as Robert's carer, as a mother of eight, and as a pianist and composer who doubted that a woman could compose. The composer calls the piece her way of honouring Clara Schumann.
