About this piece
Yagling's first cello concerto, for cello and full orchestra, dates from 1974–75 and lasts about 22 minutes. The score is dedicated to her son, the pianist Victor Chestopal. She made the piano reduction herself and revised it in 2004. As a cellist, she marked fingerings and other playing details carefully in the solo part. She recorded the concerto herself with the USSR Radio and TV Large Symphony Orchestra under Vladimir Fedoseyev.
