About this piece
A four-movement sonata for two cellos, written in autumn 2015 for Florent and Frédéric Audibert, who premiered it on 3 July 2016. The expressive first movement is a theme with variations and a second theme; the second is a cheerful dance played entirely pizzicato, and the slow third movement uses new colours including glissandi in harmonics. The finale is a rondo whose refrain is a perpetual motion in sixteenth notes, alternating with a slow episode and a dance-like one.
