About this piece
A short elegy for unaccompanied cello in memory of Mstislav Rostropovich. In her note for the Concerto-Elegy, Firsova says she wrote it on the day of Rostropovich's funeral in April 2007, and she later used it as the main material of that concerto. Karine Georgian gave the premiere at Dartington on 13 August 2007, and Valerie Welbanks recorded it on the Meridian album 'A Triple Portrait' (2015).
