About this piece
Two Score is a five-minute unaccompanied piece written in 2004 to mark the 40th wedding anniversary of Beverly and Stephen Woolf. Matt Haimovitz premiered it as a surprise for the couple on 9 August 2004 at the Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton, Massachusetts. The title is a play on words: a 'score' is twenty, so 'two score' is forty, and the composer's note says it celebrates both the length and the lightness of the marriage.
