About this piece
Praxis is a concert étude for unaccompanied cello, commissioned by cellist Thomas La Forgia for Sharon Robinson's studio masterclass at Indiana University in 2008. La Forgia gave the premiere at Merrill Hall, Bloomington, on 3 February 2009. The title, meaning putting theory or skill into practice, suits the étude format. It lasts about eight minutes.
