About this piece
Perles d'ambre ("Amber beads") began in 2009 as a wordless vocalise for female voice and orchestra; Brenet's publisher, Musik Fabrik, also issues it for a range of solo instruments with piano, including this version for cello. It lasts about seven minutes, and the publisher describes it as "a lyrical piece with several freely interpreted sections" that give the soloist room for personal expression. The orchestral vocal version was recorded in 2014 by the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra under Paul Wehage.
