About this piece
Cinq pièces is a 15-minute suite for unaccompanied cello in five movements: Pour préluder, Perpetuum mobile, Variations sur un rythme, Espressivo and Con fuoco. Reverdy wrote it at Marc Coppey's request; he gave the premiere at the Chapelle des Dominicains in Dijon on 30 April 2005 and supplied the fingerings and bowings for the Leduc edition. In her note the composer explains that, following Bach's suites, the whole set grows from one six-note melody, while each piece uses its own compositional process.
