About this piece
An eleven-minute piece for unaccompanied cello, the second of Yolanda Campos Bergua's astronomy cycle, commissioned by and dedicated to cellist David Johnstone, who premiered it at the Centro Huarte, Navarre, in 2013. Its three sections, Origin, Evolution and Transfiguration, trace the formation of the constellation Capricornus. In her score note the composer explains that the modal-microtonal writing is derived from number combinations based on the magnitudes of the constellation's stars.
