About this piece
A three-movement work (Allegro a piacere e deciso; Lento ma non troppo; Allegro assai e giocoso), lasting about 17 minutes, from 1971. Eckhardt-Gramatté first conceived it as a chamber concerto for viola da gamba and harpsichord; this is the third version, which allows cello and piano, and Plangere publishes it as Concertino Concertante (Concertino de Camera, Version III). Dorothy Bishop and Delores Keahey recorded the cello-and-piano version in Winnipeg in 1984.
