About this piece
Moyseowicz's first sonata for cello and piano, composed in 1976-77, a few years after she settled in West Berlin. It opens with a forceful Andante maestoso in which the cello's chromatic line is answered by heavy piano chords, and lasts about 14 minutes in the composer's own recording with cellist Gudrun Eckle. Ries & Erler published it in 2025 as a score with separate cello part.
