About this piece
A three-movement work for cello and piano written for the Jesselson/Fugo Duo (Robert Jesselson, cello; Charles Fugo, piano) for their 30th anniversary and premiered in Columbia, South Carolina, in September 2012. Its title refers to the opera house in Marion, South Carolina, and its three movements are titled On the Pink Tea, In the Courtroom/Jail and From the Firehouse. The duo recorded it on Carolina Cellobration (2012), an album of new music by South Carolina composers.
