About this piece
A four-movement sonata for cello and piano from 2021 that responds to climate change. Wolosoff's childhood friend Robert M. Stein commissioned it, and the composer describes it as a requiem in sonata form, with four movements: "Song of the Earth", "Requiem Aeternam", "The Great Waters" and "Epilogue: I have loved this world so dearly". The second movement quotes the "et lux perpetua" melody from Mozart's Requiem. Sara Sant'Ambrogio and the composer recorded it on the album Paradise Found (Avie, 2022).
