About this piece

A set of ten short unaccompanied études by Aaron Minsky in which the same finger pattern is played on all four strings, producing unusual, non-scalar sounds. The composer presents them as material for technique building and for learning to improvise. Titles include Four by Four, Staircases, Figaro, Tra La La, Doggies, Mysterious One and Number Nine. This is a different set from his Ten American Cello Etudes (Oxford University Press).
