About this piece

A cello and piano arrangement by Tim Wells of a song from Maria Theresia von Paradis's 12 Lieder auf ihrer Reise in Musik gesetzt. Paradis (1759-1824) was a Viennese pianist and composer, blind from the age of four, for whom Salieri, Mozart (Piano Concerto K. 456) and probably Haydn wrote works, according to the Österreichisches Musiklexikon; in 1808 she founded a music school for girls and women. The arrangement is List A piece 1 for ABRSM Grade 2 cello in the syllabus from 2024.

Left Hand

  • Mostly 1st position with small extensions.
  • Early shifting to 2nd/3rd positions.
  • Controlled vibrato on sustained notes.

Right Hand

  • Expanded bow technique for faster passages & wider dynamics.
