About this piece

Four songs by Alma Clarke, who composed under the pseudonym Lozanne, arranged for cello and piano by Sue Otty: You Brought My Heart the Sunshine, Dark-haired Marie, Night Brings Me You and Avelette. The publisher, S J Music, calls them 'suitable for a beginner cellist' and says three of them are on the Trinity syllabus for Grades 2, 3 and 4. Clarke was born in British Columbia in 1897, worked as a violinist and then a professional pianist, and began composing after moving to Bournemouth in 1930.
