About this piece
A nocturne in A minor for cello and piano, 94 bars long, with a more impassioned middle section in D minor and E major before the opening returns. Breitkopf & Härtel published it in 1879 in its Violoncell-Bibliothek, dedicated to the cellist August Lindner, alongside Bronsart's Elegie, Op. 14 and Romanze, Op. 15. Bronsart, a Liszt pupil of Swedish parentage, wrote in 1910 that she was the first woman to have a large opera (Hiarne) staged in Germany; Ursula Erhart-Schwertmann recorded this piece on Lost & Found (Gramola, 2025).
