About this piece

A collection of 24 short recital and contest pieces for cello and piano, edited and arranged by Kathryn Griesinger. Fifteen of the pieces are by composers who are rarely heard in student books. They include Florence Price (Adoration), the Afro-Cuban violinist José White (El Pensamiento), Rentarō Taki (Menuetto) and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor (Viking Song), plus children's and salon pieces by Cécile Chaminade, Amy Beach, Mélanie Bonis, Louise Farrenc, Emilie Mayer, Amanda Maier, Louise Reichardt, Pauline Viardot and Sophie Gail. The rest are familiar teaching pieces by Handel, Mozart, Schumann, Grieg, Tchaikovsky and others. Each piece fits on one page, which makes the book a good source of a first recital piece for students who have finished a first-position method.

Technical overview
