About this piece

Maria Witkowska-Jabłońska was a Warsaw composer active in the early 1900s about whom almost nothing else is known. Her Cantabile, Op. 13 was published by Konstanty Trepte around 1902 as one of a series of thirteen pieces for cello or violin with piano, and the cello is the instrument named on the printed part. It is a slow song in 3/4 marked Andante maestoso, in B-flat minor with a warmer major-key middle section. The original edition is a free public-domain scan in Polona.

Technical overview
