About this piece

A playful gavotte that jumps between a grand bass-register theme and light, high answers in harmonics. It makes a fun encore for a student with secure upper positions.

Technical overview

In D major and 4/4. Long stretches sit in treble clef high on the A string, many of them natural harmonics. The theme has grace notes, staccato and wide leaps between registers, and the piece closes with pizzicato chords.
